Spring Break 2010

For this Hogsmeade, I'm pleased to announce a very special event that I hope you all will enjoy. It's Spring Break time, and Hogsmeade is your home base for all your vacation needs! Similar to Hogsmeade 2010 from last weekend, Hogsmeade is again hosting a minifest of related activities for your enjoyment. Since this one's all about cutting loose, Spring Break 2010 will include both points-earning AND social activities, so come join in the fun!



How on earth is all of this fitting into one Hogsmeade, you ask? Good question Well, this Hogsmeade will be bustling for sure. XD So, here's the tentative schedule for this weekend:

I hope you all are as excited as I am! There are many fun and exciting activities planned for you to earn points for your house and knuts for yourself!

Please feel free to make social posts for fun and to get to know your fellow Hogsmeade-goers. Anyone can post, so don't be shy.

Here's a reminder of the basic rules of Hogsmeade Weekends:
• All points earning activities will use the "official points-earning activity" tag and must have "Official Points-Earning Activity" within the subject line.
• Please place all large graphics (larger than 350x350) under an lj cut.
• Play nice! No house bashing or person bashing.

There will be 18 official points earning activities this Hogsmeade. For participating in FIFTEEN of them, you will earn a 20 points/10 knuts bonus for your house. If you participate in ALL points-earning events this Hogsmeade, you will also earn an exclusive award banner to commemorate your accomplishment!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

The first Hogsmeade Weekend of this term will be held on February 19-21! Hogsmeade will begin at 4pm MST/11pm UTC on Friday, February 19, and end at 11pm MST/6am Mon UTC, on Sunday, February 21. The theme will be Valentines, though not all hosted activities will center on this theme.

Also, for those who run a Flourish shop or are interested in doing so, this Hogsmeade Flourish will be trying something a little different, so make sure you see what's what. Check out Alicia and Liz's informational post to learn all about it!

Signups for leaders interested in hosting an activity will be going up sometime this weekend. XD

Hi guys! The first Hogsmeade of the term will be in February and will be Valentine themed. But I wasn't sure if you guys would rather have it actually on Valentines, or just nearby. So, A POLL.

If either of the stamping mods are unavailable that date, or if I'm not able to get it off, that will carry more weight than the popular vote. So! I know it's not actually winter for those in the Southern hemisphere, but that doesn't mean we can't all discuss it. I live someplace warm, so we almost never get snow. But it SNOWED LAST NIGHT! *flails* Even though it didn't stick, it was so exciting!

Writer's Block Gift Fics

Those of you who were here for the last Hogsmeade Weekend will probably remember this. If not and for all other, here's what we are going to do:

Activity:
Show your appreciation and/or love for your fellow HiHers by writing gift fics for them! (Or maybe you just like the prompts you see, but what does it matter if you can still give someone a special gift that way, right? Right.)

Details:
To request gifts, simply comment to this post with the following info (you can be as specific or vague as you like, but remember that not everyone knows your likes and dislikes and a couple of hints will be helpful to those writing for you):

It's really quite simple. All you have to do is comment/talk/etc using only your icons! Respond to others' threads, but also feel free to make your own! Helpful Hint: Use "<" to make the comment blank.

1. GO HERE. Researchers at MIT are studying the function of social networks in relaying real-life geographically spread information via virtual social networks.

2. We are looking for very large (ten foot tall) red balloons in urban areas. All balloons are scheduled to go on display at all locations at 10:00AM (ET) until approximately 4:00 PM (local time) on Saturday, December 5, 2009. IF YOU SEE SUCH A BALLOON, REPORT IT TO THE SITE ABOVE OR TO ME OR SIl SO THAT I WE REPORT IT. JUST COMMENT WITH IT BBS. There are only 10 balloons, and the odds of them being in the Twin Cities in a location that I can see are rather slim, but with all of your eyes and ears, I feel marginally better. Honestly, could they have better timing, since it's Hogsmeade?

3. Sign up for your own network and share this message with people you know. If someone that you referred locates all ten balloons, you also win money.

4. MONEY. There is money for doing this. Not a ton, but whenever you participate in a research study, you get paid. In this case the cash prizes are graduated in order to act as an incentive for people to find the balloons as quickly as possible. If you or someone in your network (someone you referred) is the first person to report all ten, you will get money.
