ok, now here's a question for you. Who's the next minister of magic? JKR has said that Fudge will be gone from the MoM in the next book, so the Minister position will be vacant.

me, I'm thinking Lucius Malfoy will be. I have no clue how (other than bribing people), but we all know how JKR likes to use historic references in her books. Turns out there was a pope named Pope Cornelius, whose reign was marked by controvercy over the persecution of the non-believers (sounds like JK flipped it from non believers to believers). When he was exiled and martyred, his successor was a Bishop by the name of Lucius.

any thoughts/dissagreements??

I'm thinking Percy Weasley.Makes more sense to me.I don't think Lucius is aiming for that job.

Wishful thinking, but I would love it to be Arthur Weasley.

Or, oohhh...Lupin would be cool. But I know that neither of these options is really realistic.

I wish I could say that I have an educated guess, but I really cannot think of anyone.

I'm almost positive the next Minister is going to be Lucius, and I'm absolutely positive that he'll be thrown out of office very quickly and be replaced by Mr. Weasley. Why, you ask?

Ron: "We have just about as much chance of winning the Quidditch cup as Dad has of becoming minister of magic"

Who won the Quidditch cup? Gryffindor. Who will be the future minister of magic? Mr. Weasley

=)

haha...my layout is Pride and Prejudice themed. I adore the book, and everything else by Jane Austen, for that matter. =)

Cool layout by the way.

exactly what i've been thinking.
i'm seriously convinced that ron does have very strong prophetic powers, like trelawny said. he keeps saying these things that turn out to be true...
anyway.
another reason i believe arthur is going to be minister of magic is just because of his name. arthur. as in, king arthur. as in, the famous king that makes all of england unite...

-nod- good point. SO maybe Lucius will be Minister in the 6th, but get overthrown in favor of Arthur in the 7th.

This is a theory that I got out of a Harry Potter fan book.

Whenever Ron jokes about something, it's true. Whenever he's serious about something, he's wrong. Whenever Hermione is serious about something, it's true. Whenever she's joking about something, she's wrong.

If you go back through the books and look, there are about 3489320984 examples of this. It's amazing.

I had never even thought of the King Arthur thing! *ponders*

Wow. You'd better be right, because that would be awesome. ^_^

I <3 Mr. Weasley so much. And that is a *great* thing to back it up with. Very JKR-ish.

and don't forget the rules of constant vigiliance .. if ron is joking, he's usually right. and he was joking there .. sooo mr. weasley it will be! swwooon.

dear god i hope she doesn't come back. I mean, i love her as a character, but i hate her!! ...along with the rest of the world, probably.

OMFG your icon hahaha.

God if Umbridge gets the job I will CRUCIO MYSELF.

I don't know about all that...I think it would be really funny at some points.
Just imagin some of the greatest Death Eaters or even Voldemort having to sit at a desk and write lines.
[identity profile] jupluna.livejournal.com on July 16th, 2004 10:46 pm (UTC)
I love your icon by the way.

And that brings up another important question...CAN you use an unforgivable on yourself?
[identity profile] etherealshores.livejournal.com on July 16th, 2004 10:53 pm (UTC)
Quidditch men=HOT.
Thanks =)
Good question..well..probably in extreme circumstances you could.I wouldn't want ot use a death curse on myself.
[identity profile] jupluna.livejournal.com on July 16th, 2004 11:32 pm (UTC)
Hmm...I guess Crucio would be the only one you could really use then.
I mean...you can't exactly put yourself under a curse that makes you listen to yourself, although that might be a way for someone like say...Ron to make himself act less jealous, or Draco to make himself act like less of a pompous ass...though I think he'd end up saying "act MORE like a pompous ass." Still it would get quite confusing I think.

Hehehehe...
[identity profile] etherealshores.livejournal.com on July 16th, 2004 11:38 pm (UTC)
That's seriously be hilarious.

Or we could use one on Harry to make him chill out in OOTP.But then again if Umbridge was giving me detentions I'd go crazy too.
[identity profile] flightsofwhimsy.livejournal.com on July 17th, 2004 08:50 am (UTC)
I'd love for Umbridge to go insane...like a permanent stay in St. Mungo's, wouldn't you?? And I'd like HER to write... I will not be the bride of Satan, I will not be the bride of Satan...1 million times! Just to show her!

hmmm thats interesting but seeing as how he was thrown in azkaban and everyone knows he is a death eater, i don't see how he could be. i think arthur weasley will be minister....or maybe someone new that we havent heard of.
[identity profile] sacred-tide.livejournal.com on July 16th, 2004 10:32 pm (UTC)

yeah...but even with him in Azkaban, i wouldn't underestimate Narcissa Malfoy (is that how you spell her first name?) and her potentially "charming" abilites that could lead to Lucius' freedom and pardon from Azkaban.

I just think their money will go a loooonog way.
[identity profile] sacred-tide.livejournal.com on July 16th, 2004 10:39 pm (UTC)
Hrm. Yeah, true. Though I'm not sure their money goes quite *that* far.

why do i always forget that?!
[identity profile] ainu-laire.livejournal.com on July 16th, 2004 11:55 pm (UTC)
It won't be Malfoy- remember the article of Harry's published in the Quibbler? He named all the Death Eaters. Then, it was published in the Daily Prophet at the end of the school year; and considering how Draco Malfoy was so harsh with Harry, you can assume that Lucius is out of the picture.

However, I am really hoping Arthur Weasly. Percy is too young, and he was too close to Fudge. Or it may be Kingsley, or another not-really-known/unknown.
[identity profile] gramercy.livejournal.com on July 17th, 2004 03:35 am (UTC)
I disagree... I think it is still possible for it to be Malfoy. He's very well connected. I think it all depends on how you pick a new MOM. If they're voted in by popular vote, then I agree that it couldn't be Lucius. If they're appointed... well, I think Malfoy is slippery enough to land the job.
[identity profile] sashwizzled.livejournal.com on July 17th, 2004 03:00 am (UTC)
I imagine people will want Dumbledore... but then, I can't imagine him agreeing.

Probably a new character - both Arthur and Percy Weasely are a little bit too low in the pecking order to be up for the job.
And if Malfoy's been named as a Death Eater... Even if the claim isn't officially taken seriously - and I doubt it will be - people will believe what they want. I don't think Lucius Malfoy will get the job.
[identity profile] flightsofwhimsy.livejournal.com on July 17th, 2004 08:52 am (UTC)
Oh yeah...Dumbledore's been asked before, and he refused. I think he realizes that the Ministry's really shaky. They're also a herd of sheep. They KNEW that Voldemort was back and wasted all that time just because they were scared. I personally wouldn't want to lead such a place.
[identity profile] gramercy.livejournal.com on July 17th, 2004 03:38 am (UTC)
I think Percy will at sometime... In CoS (the book JKR says leaves the most clues for HBP) Ron makes an offhand comment about Percy wanting to be the Minister of Magic, or becoming it or SOMETHING.

I don't think Percy is quite there YET though. We'll see. The new minister might not come at the beginning of the book, so maybe he'l prove an exceptionally big prat and end up with the job somehow.
