I was just looking over the characters for GoF and some of them really made me think "WTF?!"
And I know some people have been asking what people you would like to cast, this is just that people that I think SHOULD NOT have been cast...
And so I thought Id put in my two cents here at wonderful Hogsmeade...

Brendan Glesson as Mad-Eye Moody
I thought he was going to be thin, and strangly looking with wild hair, and whatever. Obviously, what I have in my head as an image isnt going to be exact. I thought what Filch looks like is what Moody looks like... I think my biggest objection is the size of Brendan.

Frances de la Tour as Madame Maxime
Isnt she supposed to be BIG?! and half-giant? She's TINY. There is no way they can even make her look huge. And her face isnt what I pictured at all. blah...
picture here: http://www.veritaserum.com/movies/actors/francesdelatour.shtml

I also dont like how NO ONE knows what Kiktor Krum [Stanislav Ianevski] looks like and my efforts to search the web has ended in nothing...

Those are just...not right.
That is NOT the Mad-Eye from my minds eye...he looks like the typical TV cop...like on the Simpsons...where he should be drinking coffee and eatting donuts...wow...he does look a lot like Chief Wiggum.

As for Maxime...nope...not gonna happen. Even in the books shes described as larger then life...resembling Hagrid in size. Are they like...NOT making her half-giant in this?

Wrong...so wrong...-_-;

Well, considering that the man who plays Hagrid isn't exactly giant irl, I'm sure that they are going to edit it in the end as they did with him and make him appear to be larger, or whatever they do with their movie magic.

Or, the fact that the girl who plays moaning myrtle is freaking 38! Now THAT'S some movie magic.

It killed me when I found out that chick was in her 30s. Even knowing it and having seen her in other stuff, she still looks twelve to me in CoS.

They did make John Rhys davies a tiny tiny little Gimli when he is in fact one of the biggest in the cast.

If they can do that then they can make her look bigger.

Well.. once they CGI in the magic eye and all, I'm sure he'll be much more spooky!

And with Fraces de la Tour.. I'm with you there.

You know who I disagreed with the most? The girl playing Fleur!! I just.. I don't see it. She's not nearly as beautiful and enchanting as I'd imagine Fleur.

Probably the only new cast that I personally agree with would be Miranda Richardson. Her, with black hair and those infamous glasses would SO be my Rita Skeeter.

Well, I think the problem with that is Fleur is supposed to have a somewhat inhuman quality to her beauty. Kinda difficult to pull off, if you are limited to human actors. ^_^

Well, there is the magic of CGI.

But I just don't find anything about the girl they picked to be beyond normal. ;_;

I have seen fluer act and she is marvelous. And very enchanting.
Of course this is just my opinion.

[identity profile] weemumlessmngrl.livejournal.com on November 30th, 2004 04:26 pm (UTC)
She's a very beautiful and talented young lady, I agree. Buuuuut.. she's not what I imagined a veela to be when I read the books.

That's insane. o_O; Brendan is a great actor, but it's not always about playing the part, it's about RESEMBLING the part too, lol. He's supposed to look all tough and chiseled and all that goodness. He's too.. round to be chiseled-looking. Lol.

Was he? Huh. Maybe he'll prove us all wrong.

Hm I disagree about Mad-Eye Moody, I think Brendan Glesson is fantastic :) And I can understand concerns about his size...but I actually always pictured Moody as sort of chunky, especially a chunky head for some reason or another...

but I have no idea how they're going to use movie magic on Frances de la Tour. Good luck with that one!

I've seen some pictures of Krum in icons in HP icon communities, check it out there. (places like [livejournal.com profile] hp_icons)

p.s. i just looked it up (and realized that i was mistaking the pic of krum for diggory... somehow)... but here's the only pic I could find that is "suggested" to "possibly be" krum.

I LOVE some of the casting (Pedja Bjelac as Igor Karkaroff, Miranda Richardson as Rita Skeeter), but others... Blah. You're totally right about Madame Maxime, that's so wrong! I thought it was a joke when they said it. Glesson is actually how I pictured Mad-Eye Moody though.

Another one that bothers me is Robert Pattinson as Cedric Diggory. I saw some pictures (http://www.mugglenet.com/viewer/?image_location=gof/rp4.gif) at Mugglenet, and that's not what I pictured. I always thought Cedric would have more... delicate features? Not that big chin and jaw, at least.

Damnit! Paula, Slytherin.
[identity profile] saccarineayako.livejournal.com on October 3rd, 2004 03:25 pm (UTC)
Oooh! Pattinson is babealicious, and old enough so that I don't feel like a pedophile ogling him. Score! :D Whether he'd be good as Cedric remains to be seen, of course.

lol! Ah, yes, the age factor. That's one of the reasons I was so pissed that Oliver Wood wasn't in the last movie... *sigh* I love Sean... I do... *stares off into space*

Actually, Gleason is EXACTLY how I imagined Moody... but I suppose that is just me ^^

I agree with you on Madam Maxine. I *really* hope they work some good movie magic... like, a LOT of movie magic.
