Hey guys, I realize this isn't HP related (although since we're at Hogsmeade it doesn't have to be!), I was wondering what your New Year's Resolutions were :) Or even just the most important one to you.

I have PLENTY, but the most important one to me is to get some exercise this year. Right now, I look pretty healthy, but I haven't really worked out at ALL my entire life, and I figure it's gotta catch up with me sometime, so I might as well work now to prevent it. Hopefully this'll not only make me healthy, but give me more self-confidence, and all of those lovely positive benefits.

Also, a resolution to snog various HP characters/actors I count as more of a dream than a Resolution. And in my case, an often illegal dream, except with the lovely Oliver Wood :)

Happy extended Hogsmeade weekend!

that's a handy tool! My mom bought me a day calendar where you do a mix between making paper snowflakes and origami each day. Not quite so enlightening as yours, though :)

Yup itscool. That Calendar is cute though!

I decided New Years was the time to get going on exercising and being more careful about what I eat again as well. I'm not overweight or anything, but I'd like to look a lil better, mostly for my own confidence in my body image. Hopefully I'll stick with it. We'll see.

My resolution is to not eat sweets (like cake, pie, candy, doughnuts, etc) for the entire year, excluded special occassions like holidays or birthdays. I ate WAY too much crap last year, my teeth are rotting as we speak *nodnod* Hopefully, when I can eat sweets again, I'll learn to limit myself :) My friends aren't helping though... they keep waving sweets in front of my nose *thwacks them*

1. Read More--I love reading, but I seem to forget to actually do it.

2. Stop thinking about doing things and actually do them--there are so many things that I would like to do, that I never actually get around to doing, and I'd like to change that.

3. Exercise More--I'm not overweight, but I am out of shape. This resolution isn't pure vanity though, I've had my health care provider tell me multiple times that I should be exercising more, because it would help a number of my health problems.

I'm normally not one for New Year's resolutions but as long as we all promise to see them as guidelines rather than The Code...

1) Stop with this silly procrastinating business that's been going on... my entire life. Yeah. Essays usually turn out nicer when you don't write them during the 24 hours before they're due.

2) Drink more water, less diet coke. My teeth and stomach will thank me.

3) Eat more vegetables. They're good for you. I've been told.

4) Try to reach that 15 books a months goal I've been trying to reach for 5 years. (sooo close last year damnit).

Stop with this silly procrastinating business that's been going on... my entire life. Yeah.

But! Would you still be the Caeru we all know and love if the procrastination stopped? ;-)

If they stopped? My life would be barren. My world would cease to turn. The eternal light at the end of my tunnel would go off.

Or, y'know, I'd get over it. Sooner or later.

Those are almost the exact same as mine! Besides exercising I also had finish readings for class before class (haha which is me trying not to procrastinate), eat more veggies & fruit, drink more water, and take time to read for at least 1/2 an hour each day :)

[identity profile] possibilities.livejournal.com on January 16th, 2005 10:29 pm (UTC)
1) Stop procrastination. Status: Failed by 5am January 1st. Oh well. Still working (and failing) at that one.

2) Work on ways to better show my friends that I really am a friend in return. I'm shit at expressing it.

Get my priorities straight. It's so hard.. AIM or homework? AIM or homework? ... Boys or homework? Screw homework. Wait. No. :/

Do my homework. I've got such a "I'm too smart for homework" attitude and it's giving me B's and I'm an OCD Ravenclaw and I'm going to go crazy, especially since grades are due in a week, and I've got two B's, and they need to go away. Right now. Maybe I should do my homework.

1. Be less insecure about everything
2. Get in shape (I've had the resolution "Start Jogging" for the last three years, but it still hasn't materialized. Maybe this year ...)
3. Stop procrastinating (seems to be a popular one ...)

~ Mara, Ravenclaw
[identity profile] intotheheart.livejournal.com on January 16th, 2005 11:18 pm (UTC)
I had that resolution (start jogging) for years too! Then I realized that I wasn't that comfortable exercising in front of other people, so I bought some exercise videos, and now I do it MUCH more often :) You'll feel silly, but you'll only feel silly to yourself -- which is much less of an obstacle (at least to me) than feeling silly to other people.

Good luck!

I actually don't believe in New Years' Resolutions. I don't remember ever having made one. I don't need a new year to try to change something I might not like about myself.

Well, I didn't make any resolutions, however I did recently come up with a new 'Master Plan'. (I've had many 'Master Plans', all of which have more or less failed, but I'm still rather determined).
1) swimming every day (used to swim competitively years ago, and would love to get back to that level of capability)
2) go to a gym (one of two) every day
3) cut back sweets & fats (other than dairy fats, which will be acceptable in certain quantities)
4) cut food consumption by a third (possibly by a half)
5) middle eastern dance & pilates at least once a week
6) meditation & spiritual re-exploration

Here are mine:

1. Write more. I would like to finish something major this year. I would like to win <ahref="http://www.nanowrimo.org">NaNoWriMothis year.
2. Update my webcomic on time with no excuses. Actually, I kinda broke this one already as I was supposed to update yesterday.
3. Do fanart and/or donate moeny to all the webcomic artists I read.
4. Exercise.
5. Make a new cosplay costume (for an anime/Star Wars convention) that isn't a half-assed one for Halloween.

Mine are stupid little things that I'd be embarrassed to admit to my friends. But this is online and none of you know me so here goes:
1. Lose the 5 (or..like..10) lbs I put on when I started college (yeh, I'm vain and I care about my weight *gaspshockhorror* some people put that tantamount to original sin nowadays.)
2. Stop being a sarcastic bitch to people who offend me just by the way they look (ohhhh but I cant help it...it's so much more fun than Being Nice)
3. Excersize. Walk from home to E&C station in the morning, and from Waterloo home in the evening. Go to the gym at leats once a month. (This is different from losing weight...this is toning up and getting healthier)
4. Slowly break my family into my vegetarianism without them running screaming blue murder to the doctors again.
5. Join a youth theatre group. Use it to make alliances and get a foot in the theatre door.
6. Pass all my exams with at least a C (in the case of Film) and B in English L&L and Theatre.
7. Have more sex with pretty boys. (Lets face it, this is a resolution we all do our best to keep)
8. Find more time to do the things I love. Sing more, paint more, draw more, write more, go clubbing again, it's been too long.
and finally, the ones we all say we'll keep, but know we wont:
Quit smoking at least until I get my braces in so I dont have disgusting stains.
Stop the excessive drinking binges.
Drink water instead of diet coke or coffee.
Now that you've stopped eating McCrap, stop eating all sweets except skittles and milk bottles.
Beat your current longest-relationship record.
