Alright quick question.

People on other Harry Potter sites have been saying that PoA has like two or three versions. They're saying that like, Theres one they showed in the theatres, one for DVD and another one.

I personally think that they only released the one. Because the one I saw in theatre is the one I own.

What do you guys think?

Well, I never noticed a difference between my DVD and the movie version. Maybe it was the time between the release of the movie and DVD which made the people think it was different, because people might have forgotten some parts of the movie.

Just a thought.

That's HIGHLY unlikely. (I work in the film insdustry). And when a DVD version is different, they take FULL advantage of it. Meaning, they'll release the DVD of the theatrical version then release the "special edition version"...know what I mean?

My DVD is the same as I saw in theater and the same as I've seen four times on HBO.

Rumors...

Is it possible that they've released like..different ones in England?
[identity profile] tricknik.livejournal.com on July 1st, 2005 07:48 pm (UTC)
It is possible...but once again, unlikely. And via the numerous fan sites like Mugglenet, HPANA, TLC and movie sites like ComingSoon.net and Aint it Cool News - we would've heard by now that there were different versions of the movie. Nothing stays secret anymore.

Exactly...they'd want to maximize their profits! I'm sure we would have been bombarded with advertisements if there were another official version. Maybe they're bootlegged copies...?

i think it's just a rumor. :\ the DVD version i have is the same as the one i've seen on HBO and in the theaters.

if there is any difference, it would be in the format of the disc... since DVDs are coded to play in certain regions (or something like that). *shrugs*

Just a speculation: could they be referring to or confusing themselves with the "special" version aired on tv? They boast "never before shown scenes," which supposedly are not included on the DVD. Perhaps this could be it?

Do you mean Chamber of Secrets? They haven't shown PoA on tv yet... and they just recently showed CoS on ABC. With extra scenes. Just wondering.

I was not aware that PoA had not yet been aired in this manner, making my speculatory goodness pretty much worthless.

*giggles* Ahh, it's okay. At least you speculated. And that WAS good. :D

I definitely don't think so. If they had done somehthing like that, as previously said, they would have definitely tried to maximize profiting by subjecting us to mass advertising. And we all probably would have bought it. And as for me... I only own one copy of PoA.

actually, my friend who saw poa in the theatre said that a couple scenes werent in the actual movie. [her friend that went with her agrees]

i have the poa every day calendar and for one of the days it shows a scene of ron giving harry the sneakascope however its spelt, and all their candy and stuff from hogsmeade and thats so not in the movie, but it is a deleted scene, which is really weird.

cause in the movie it just shows harry carrying it up the stairs and youre kinda like, hey, whats he got? lol.

i cant remember what other missing things she said as i didnt see the movie in the theatre and we discused that a long while ago.

All I can think of is that they've confused deleted scenes with a different version. Maybe there's a feature on (some or all) PoA DVDs that allows you to watch it with the deleted scenes input where they should have been. That would create the incorrect, but very understandable, illusion of different versions.

If there were truly different versions, we'd hear about it. We've certainly all heard about the differences between books. For instance, I just found out during the Quidditch match that at least one place name has two canonical spellings. (Because the spelling straight out of my CoS copy was different from the one the Quidditch folks had.)

Well, even if this was said before, it just might be something like we had it over here in Germany with CoS... The German version had several scenes cut out, so that on the dvd you have in fact two versions of the film, the German cut one and the original English one...
