Heh, I was supposed to work last Fourth of July, but I got out of it. The ice cream place was bad enough on regular weekends, I can't imagine what the holiday was like.
This year, my office is closed on July 4th. W00t for government jobs! ^^
Either staying home doing nothing, having a BBQ just my mom, sister and I, or my mom goes to work, and I stay home doing nothing. So sounds like fun, huh?
Every year, I go to my grandparents' cottage on the lake.. everyone has bonfires and there's fireworks and stuff. It's really awesome. My whole family goes down there and just eats and chills out.
i'm going to Shingleroof Campground (too much to explain here. if you go to Shingleroof.org (http://www.shingleroof.org) then you can learn more about the area history.) with my family to our cabin there and sleep over and then my whole mom's side of the family will make there way there and we'll have lunch. we do it every year.
after that i'm sure i'll go and watch fireworks at the Antique Mall with my friends from church.
We always have this really fun fair in my town. And it's all week long so it's already started and it's pretty fun. I get stuffed with cotton candy and then throw it all back up! Haha. And then on the actual 4th my family and I go downtown and watch the fireworks. It's so pretty.
Causing six-alarm fires Oh, just shooting off fireworks in the backyard, nevermind that it's illegal... And even if my dad confiscates them, I'm in charge of lighting the grill for our cookout, and I really like lighter fluid... Hey, it's the only time of year save New Year's when exploding things is legal!
my sister and i are shooting off fireworks and my mom and dad would KiLL me if they found out that i was takeing my 11 year old sister out to shoot of fireworks we bought at the border of oklahoma and texas so SHHH! and dont tell, lol
July 4th is also my anniversary, so my bf and I are going out to eat, catch a movie and then go to a fireworks show. Maybe go to the beach if it's nice out.
Working as a waitress at the only diner near the airport open past 10:00 PM. I expect we'll be busy after the fireworks, so I should do really well on tips and such.
Not really sure what the schedule holds. My husband badass_in_black is a US Navy aircraft mechanic and he has one shift this weekend, naturally it's Monday from midnight-8am *L* Figures huh? But hopefully he'll have the rest of the weekend off *Crosses fingers* and we can spend quality time as a family (we have two sons ages 5 and 8)
Watching my cats freak out from the sound of firecrackers. Pouting because there'll be no mail. Possibly lighting a sparkler or two. Probably either working on or doing research for the sequel to my latest fic, and hoping nothing I write gets Jossed too badly when HBP comes out.
Last year was my first time really celebrating 4th of July, normally we just watched fireworks on tv, but we did go downtown and watch the fire departments fireworks a couple times. I did light a sparkler once, too. Last year, I went to my now husband's parents' house and the whole street was shooting off Roman Candles, Sparkler bombs, the ones in the tubes that shoot up into the air, etc. We also had a Roman candle war, which is extremely dangerous but so much fun, KIDS don't try this at home!!! (I won cuz I hit 3 people with one candle). This year, we are going out there again, after going to his grandparent's for food and swimming. Hopefully there won't be a whole lot of people though so we can blow up lots of things. I love rural Oklahoma towns and explosions hehehehehehe.
One more thing, has anyone seen the Blue Collar Comedy Tour Rides Again? It's hilarious:
Ron White (paraphrased because I don't have it memorized but you get the jist): I would like to take the opportunity to discuss fireworks safety. When I was a teenager, I had a friend who was holding a lit punk lean back into the grand finale display, accidentally lighting it, and was killed. We would've helped, but it was so pretty. John stop! OOHH! AWWW!
oh, oh. I just figured out why your name looked so familiar. You have those amazing River icons!! I saw them on platfor 9 3/4, but I couldn't respond there. I love Firefly and RIver is my favorite, especially when she's fixing the bible and shooting people with her eyes closed.
Lol! I'm glad you like them! (I wish I'd made them myself though.) I think Firefly is definitely one of my favorites, and I love River to pieces. Especially when she says random things and rubs soup in her hair.
I can't /wait/ until the movie comes out!
And I know what you mean about Platform 3/4. I always have to resist responding to comments when I'm sorted. Heh.
No one in the 'verse can stop me. hehehe. I like the soup stuff, and when she is freaked out by Book's hair, and just when she acts a little weird. I <3 River!!
Oh, I want to see Serenity so bad. I am so jealous of the people who have gotten to see advanced screenings, and that River has been at just about all of those screenings. hehe, okay I am done now, and I am smily. Yay for more firefly friends!
I am going to the fabulous Bay City fireworks festival with my boyfriend on the 3rd...and then probably doing some family stuff the next day, since my dad decided yesterday that we should have a garage sale next weekend. Starting the 7th. So, okay, I will probably spend my 4th of July refraining from making smart remarks about the logistics of this plan.
I'll be here in Japan, wishing I was home, and preparing to call my brother tuesday to wish him a happy birthday. Oh, and working on the school festival for an insane amount of time.
Hmmm. Possibly doing nothing, possibly hanging out with my best friend who is home for the weekend... otherwise, possibly being reeeaally hung over from my friend's party the night before, lol.
BUT!! Not working for the first fourth of July in years!!! Yay!!!
