Just for fun ...
Several TV related questions, just for curiosity's sake.

What TV shows do you watch, and why, who do you 'ship, and why?

They change every so often. I used to be a huge ER fan, but the last season kind of ruined it for me.

TV Shows
Alias - For the characters. I'm a sucker for good characters, and if you're looking for them, you'lll find them on Alias. Irina and Jack are my two favourites, but Alias characters are some of the most interesting, most rounded characters you'll ever see.
CSI - Again, the characters, and for the sheer interest of the storylines.
Crossing Jordan - Same as for CSI.
The West Wing - I've just started watching this regularly, and I can't get enough! I love the characters, and it's some of the first intelligent TV I've watched. It discusses issues that are important, and gives a glimpse into the lives of politicians, which I find fascinating.

Ships
Alias - Jack/Irina, Syd/Will, Syd/Vaughn (sometimes, although I really don't like Vaughn, I think they're cute as a couple.) Sark/Lauren.
CSI - Grissom/Sara, Warrick/Cath.
Crossing Jordan - Woody/Jordan.
The West Wing - Jed/Abbey, Josh/Donna.

Anyone else?

P.S. If you haven't signed the Live 8 petition at live8live.com, go and do it! It's important.

Right now I only get one channel, so I don't see a lot of current shows. But I do watch House religiously, and I `ship House/Wilson.

*squee* House LOVE. I'm a huge House fan! And it's so great because... you know what? House/Wilson is practically canon. YAY!

Ahaha, watch me wax a bit creepy. I watch the news, primarily -- and maybe like two other shows, but there uh, aren't a lot of things to ship.

Me:

House, M.D. -- Usually I'm not one for medical shows, because I'm about a thousand kinds of squeamish and it's hard for me to watch any actual procedures. I started watching this show because it came on after American Idol though, and I fell in love. The characters are so awesome (mostly -- OMGZ no Cameron) annnnd I just love watching.
Most of the Adult Swim line-up -- Harvey Birdman (OMGZ Stephen Colbert <3), Family Guy, American Dad, Tom Goes to the Mayor, Full Metal Alchemist. Love those shows so hardcore. x3
The Daily Show -- Political satire's been a love of mine for a while now, and The Daily Show is about a thousand kinds of hilarious. And Stephen Colbert's getting his own spin-off show, The Colbert Report. :D!

Newsy stuff:
Countdown with Keith Olbermann -- I get a good portion of my news from Keith. It's serious news that doesn't take itself too seriously; a lot of reviews compare it favorably to The Daily Show. Keith's insanely smart and adorably weird, and he's just fun to watch. MSNBC owns me.
Anderson Cooper 360 -- ... I won't lie, I mostly watch Anderson Cooper because he's absurdly attractive. The show isn't quite my style, but Anderson's a smart guy, and on occassion they run some pretty interesting stuff. (And I love Dr. Sanjay Gupta. <3<3)
The Situation with Tucker Carlson -- I don't really -like- Tucker Carlson; he can really grate on my nerves, and our political views are quite different, but I do enjoy his new show. It's a lot more entertaining than Crossfire, annnnnd I don't have to worry about seeing Robert Novak show up. Plus I freaking LOVE one of the promos for it. "Can I still fight crime?" Roffles Tucker. Roffles.

Ships:
House -- House/Wilson -- Their love is so almost canon. >_> They're OMGZ best friends!!1! except House is a total ass and Wilson has a habit of getting involved in bad marriages. They just interact so well together regardless of whether you're watching it as a shipper or not. xD
The Daily Show -- Jon/Stephen -- Their love is pizza-makeouts comedy!love. God I love them. xD;

CSI
I love the idea of being a csi. The characters are amazing. The story lines are quite interesting.
Grissom/Sarah & Nick/Catherine

Lost
Who wouldn't like a show that's like a cross between Gilligans Island and The Twightlight Zone.
Charlie/Claire & Gin/Sun

Medium
Psychic Crime solver! She'd give Trelawney a run for her money!
I just wish she'd get rid of her husband. yuck!

Big Brother
starts sooooooooooo soon!

TV shows
West Wing - I love the characters, and I thik the show has great dialog. I mostly watch the episodes on Bravo
Iron Chef - I love it for the campiness of it.
Family Guy - It's hilarious
Aqua Teen Hunger Force - Slighty disturbing humor
South Park - Tweek = LOVE
Pimp My Ride - Not sure why I like it, I just do.
All My Children
Guiding Light - I grew up watching this soap.

I'm not a big shipper, sorry.

*squee for Guiding Light* Alrighty, I've got to know- whose your couple on the show? Me- Gus and Harley. They're the reason I got into the show. And yay for the death of Phillip!

Sorry....went fangirl-y there for a second.

I am TV obsessed, sometimes, I swear. It's so bad.

House - Add me to the list of people who love House for the wonderful and fabulous snark. Because, simply put, House is awesome, and the storylines on the show are so great...it's a puzzle every week. (The season finale practically sent me into shock, that's how good it was.) I sometimes have a problem with the blood and the needles (needles into eyes!!! why do we need to see that?!?!?) but it's totally worth it for some of the things that come out of his mouth...all the things I totally wish I could say but could never get away with.

Lost - Okay, I admit, I totally started watching Lost after seeing seven billion commercials last summer of Dominic Monaghan (whom I adore) saying, "Guys...where are we?" But, it has turned into a Wednesday night tradition because it's so gripping. Although if we don't start getting some kind of payoff for all the questions in the show, I'm going to mightily angry.

24 - I had never watched this show till this season, and my roommate was like, "You MUST watch 24." Which was a good call, because it's super exciting. Also, this show is probably one of two where I really have a ship (usually I don't care much), which would of course be Tony and Michelle, because they are awesome.

Joan of Arcadia - My favorite, favorite show, and they canceled it. I hate you, CBS. This show was so good...mostly because all the actors in it were extremely talented, and even when the writing was bad it was still way better than anything else on TV (in my opinion). Then they had to go and take it off for more reality shows and procedural crime dramas. Gah. (This is why I refuse to watch anything on CBS, ever again, especially whatever they insert into that timeslot next season.) ...and okay, my other ship...Grace and Luke...

Jack and Bobby - Also canceled, which was kind of to be expected because the ratings were pretty abysmal, but the premise was so different from anything else out there, I loved it.

And, my summer guilty pleasure, Dancing with the Stars, which ends next week. I don't watch much reality stuff (though I make an exception for late-season American Idol), but I *heart* this show. It's fun, and it makes me go "I want to learn how to do that!"

That's the same reason why I started watching Lost too! I saw Dominic (yeah, I'm one of those huge LOTR fans) and I knew I had to watch it when it came out. I had no idea that I'd get so hooked on the show.

House- Favourite show on right now. I love the mystery, the snark, and the character, House. If Like the first poster, I'm a total House/Wilson shipper, much to my father's distaste.

Lost- Just got into this show, and I really shouldn't have watched it at three in the morning on TiVo. Just saying. The writing is amazing, and the mystery of it all just has me hooked. No ships yet, but Sawyer is pretty.

The Amazing Race- Is the only reality show I watch because I love seeing the world and Phil is hot. No ships, 'cause the cast changes...

Law and Order: SVU- A friend watched Law and Order religiously, and eventually I watched an episode of the SVU spin off just to see what she was talking about. Totally hooked from then on. I ship Alex Cabot/Olivia Benson as well as Olivia/Elliott, 'cause the UST there is.. amusing.

The Daily Show- Avid viewer since I moved to Texas, so... 5? years? And I never miss a night. I love it. Jon is my personal hero. I ship Jon/Stephen, but not rabidly.

I don't watch too much TV. I'm more of a movie person. And I like a lot of old shows. But.

Desperate Housewives - Bree/Lynette, Susan/Edie
American Idol - ((for this season)) Jessica/Bo, Anthony/Anwar, Lindsey/Constantine
Canadian Idol - ((this season, and no, I'm not in Canada)) Daryl/Dave
Three's Company - Janet/Larry
Designing Women - Suzanne/Anthony, Julia/Mary Jo
Trading Spaces - ((before they fucked it up)) Paige/Genevieve

I guess that's it.

I used to watch lots more shows, but this year I just like stopped watching TV. For the most part.

I watch:
House- House is love. Seriously, that show is so good.
The Daily Show- Hilarious and topical. Has about as much journalistic credibility as Fox News.
Jeopardy-Because...duh. Best. Game Show. Ever.
Anderson Cooper 360- It's news, but with a hot guy. ;D
Countdown with Keith Olbermann- See above. ;D Also, Keith actually does cover some of the less mainstream stories.

I also watch random stuff on C-SPAN. Especially the Prime Minister's Question Time and various Senate stuff. I watch The West Wing on and off, but I'll probably start watching again now that Leo's going to be VP. I ♥ Leo.

Ships:
House/Wilson - It's practically canon. They are too adorable for words.
Lots of RPS with the newspeoples and a couple politicians. (Because, seriously, Kerry/Edwards was practically canon.)
For the West Wing, I like Sam/Josh, Sam/Toby and Josh/Donna. And some Toby/CJ.

I also used to watch Buffy and Angel, but I don't really read much fic for those shows.
[identity profile] cherrysk8fan.livejournal.com on July 3rd, 2005 05:38 pm (UTC)
Ooh, yeah, forgot about Jeopardy...I watch it like every night and my mom looks at me like I'm insane, especially when I know random weird questions on there...much fun. :)

Heh, well, my family knows why I love to watch it, but yeah, I always get weird looks when I know random things.

I really wish you were allowed to be on more than once, though, because I want to do that again!

I don't really watch TV but when I'm at my boyfriends I watch.. ehem.. downloaded stuff.

Alias, CSI, Scrubs, Dark Angel, Family Guy, Simpsons... Stuff we can't be bothered to wait to come out on TV in the UK!

Shows:

Entourage - probably my absolute fave. Just because I LOVE the way it portrays the Hollywood lifestyle. And Jeremy Piven kicks ass.

Gilmore Girls - caught on to this bandwagon late, it took me two visits to the Warner Bros. lot and seeing the set twice to finally be like, I've gotta watch this show. Now I'm hooked! I want to be Laurelai when I grow up.

Lost - great show, many other reasons listed above. Started watching it just because of Dominic Monaughan and it turned out to be so flippin' good.

Desperate Housewives - even though so very much of the various story lines were royally starting to get on my nerves by the season finale. Like...I'M SO OVER SUSAN ALL TOGETHER. So annoying.

Family Guy - come on, one of the funniest shows EV-AR.

Ships:

Mainly from the Gilmore Girls: Luke/Laurelai, Rory/Logan...although, I *think* there are only two more seasons left and they'll end it when Rory graduates Yale and I *think* Jess will be back before it's over. I don't know in what perspective. But I just have a feeling. Please leave Dean out of it.

From Lost, I guess Charlie/Claire.

Definitely equal opportunity offensing.

One of my favorite scenes EVAR, this season, when Peter recalled the time he forgot how to sit. Makes me die laughing just thinking about it...

House- Everyone has already gone into why this is such an amazing show. It truly is one of the best shows I've ever seen on television. Snarky, smart, and sexy. You can't really beat that! I somewhat ship House and Cameron, but for the most part I don't care if he have a love intrest. As long as it isn't his horrid ex-wife.

Guiding Light- My guily pleasure. It's ridiculous at times (can anyone say 'Reva's clone?'), but it can be wonderful. I watch mostly for Gus and Harley, who are funny, smart, sexy, and truly irresistable.

ER- I'm holding on rather hopelessly to this show. I can't imagine I'll be around much longer without Carter. But I did ship Carter/Lucy for the longest time. And, because I always love the misunderstood bad guy, I shipped Romano/Corday. I LOVED Romano, and the show has lost a lot of its flavor without him.

The West Wing- I've loved this show since I started watching it in its second season. It's exactly the government I wish we had in America. And for goodness sake, if Josh and Donna are not made a couple soon I'm gonna personally kill the writers.

Lost- I came for Dominic Monaghan and stayed for Josh Holloway. The show is the most original I've ever seen on television and I am really excited to see what the writers will throw at us next. I ship Charlie/Claire, Sun/Jin, and Kate/Sawyer. And somebody please pry Shannon off of Sayid *shivers*

The Daily Show- Sadly, this is really the only place I get news. Jon is unbelieveably witty, and I could watch that show for hours.

My summer viewing has been The Insider with Peter Cayote. It's a very good crime drama, and I'm hoping it will be back again.

I never used to watch tv, but now I watch it all the time...

Local news-- because I work in it, and pretty much have to, but I watch so much more than necessary.

CSI -- Amazing storylines, creepy murders, great character development and interaction.

I ship Nick/Greg, Warrick/Catherine, and Grissom/Brass, which I get teased for a lot, but I honestly can't see Grissom with anyone else except Sara and she annoys me at times. Plus, I'm a slasher at heart.

Lost -- I was a big fan, but there's only so much I can take when they don't move the storylines forward at all because of all the flashbacks and they don't reveal ANYTHING.

Pairings: Boone/Sawyer, Sawyer/Jack.

Desperate Housewives-- I don't know why I like this show so much as I'm neither desperate or a housewife, but I can't get enough. No ships though.

I also watch Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the occasional Without A Trace, and the occasional episode of Survivor.

My main shows:
Alias and House. I am not really a big shipper, but I laugh at the House/Cameron thing that has been going on. It's hilarious. Alias I have watched faithfully since the first season. The season finale for this last season is killing me.
There was actually this one show that only had three or four episodes when Alias first came out, and I liked it, but never heard of it again, forgot the name though. It had ryan merriman in it, though...

I've never really been a religious tv show watcher. However, there are a few shows that I love and adore.

LOST Naturally. I started watching it for Dominic Monaghan (major LOTR geek here), but after the pilot, I was completely hooked. It's such an original show, so well written; the characters each have their own stories, and I love how they reveal them slowly through flashbacks. I also love that, for the most part, the cast is full of no-names, people who aren't OMGSUPERFAMOUS. It helps, because a lot of times, if I watch a movie and see, oh, Brad Pitt, I instantly recognize him, and it takes away from the character, a little. Unless the actor is extraordinarily talented. Which Brad Pitt is, so. Erm.

Ships Let's see. I 'ship CharliexClaire, KatexSawyer, JackxSawyer, and ShannonxBoone (even though...even though...WAH. T___T)

That's my main show. I also watch - ::shifty eyes:: - The OC. Eugh, I know. I refused to watch it at first, simply because it was so painfully mainstream, and I thought it would be one of those stupid, typical teenage shows. And, in a lot of ways, it is. But I have two words for you all: Seth Cohen. If it weren't for him, the show wouldn't be half as good as it is. In The OC, I ship: SethxRyan, SethxSummer, and RyanxMarissa. The usual.

I watch some other shows, but not religiously or anything. I lovelovelove South Park. That show is so kickass.
