Because I'm tired of cleaning and waiting to go to work, I thought it be best I come bug all of you! I know, I know, you're soooo lucky.
Because I like seeing nature v. nurture type stuff, sort your family and close friends. Explanations would be lovely.
Mom - definitely a Hufflepuff. She is the embodiment of a busy-bee. It's partially her fault I always have to find something to do rather than sitting down, or multitask three things at once or I'll get bored. The woman volunteers for more things at church and schools my siblings and I have long since graduated from than should be healthy. I admire her, but I can't live with her for more than a week. We get along better now that I moved 8 hours away.
Dad - Ravenclaw. My dad and I are superclose (especially compared to my mom) and I've inherited more from him and have more of his mannerisms. That I can recall, he knows and reads in at least 5 languages (English, German, Hebrew, Greek, and Portuguese). His bookshelves are crammed with books 2 and 3 deep. Though he's retired, he still goes to seminars on anything that interests him. My 'Claw side definitely comes from him.
Chase(older brother) - Gryffindor. For personality, think the Weasley twins, only with blonde hair and taller. He's a cop in the worst neighborhood in Augusta, so that definitely takes some guts. He's gone through a lot, and I've always admired how he looks on the positive side of things and never backed down from difficult times.
Lids(younger sister) - Hufflepuff. She's a lot like my mom, only we get along better. We had to share a room growing up though, so we didn't get along much until my junior year of high school. She's sweet and totally has that girl-next-door charm to her. She's one of the best friends you could ask for. Case in point - there's this guy at our church in GA. No one really cares for him and gets made fun of a lot...still (they're all College and Career age now. He's a year older than my sister and she's 22). At one retreat, the group was making fun of him behind his back and she stood up for him. She doesn't like him either, especially after I told her the only reason he started going to our church in high school was because he liked her and not because David invited him like he always told everyone, but she stuck up for him anyways. (What can I say? I'm good at finding motives.) But she's also not a person to cross (like Badgers). He was really mean and rude to her one too many times, so she won't speak to him or stick up for him anymore.
Also - My paternal Grandmother and maternal Grandfather are Gryffindors and my my maternal Grandmother is a Hufflepuff. My paternal Grandfather died when I was much younger and before I got to know him well enough.
So where does this leave me, the sole Slytherin in the vicinity? Well, had I been sorted when I was 11, or even 16-17, I would have ended up in Ravenclaw without a doubt. I wouldn't have wanted to be in Slytherin, especially since an "ends justify the means" mentality was awful to me then. I've inherited my curious nature and Ravenclaw side from my dad (nature). But my parents always pushed me to go for what I wanted to do and always supported and encouraged me in all my endeavors (nurture), which eventually brought out my Slytherin side. Granted, it didn't occur until college, but I've always been a bit of a late bloomer (and I'm a proud member of the "24 Year Old Jailbait Club" - for those who are 24 but look 16-17).
Kalan - My best bud and is a Ravenclaw. She loves analysing things and she's more a thinker than a doer. She was in my group of friends in high school that RP'ed Sailor Moon and she was Sailor Mercury, only more outgoing and bubbly. Although, I feel I should put her under family because she's spent so many holidays with us and we're so close, we're like sisters.
Chris - My best friend (when I was engaged, he was going to be my Man of Honour). He's the difficult one. I'd say he's a Ravenclaw or a Hufflepuff. Even though I know him so well, and probably the best out of any of his friends, I still don't know where to place him. I'm trying to talk him into applying at HiH, just to see what others would say too, because he doesn't know either.
Lori - Think I would forget you?! How can I forget my Gryffindor counterpart? (She's
anodein82 here and in HiH.) I think we definitely balance each other out, or she encourages my Gryffindor tendencies when they start to show. =)
Brian - At first, he seems like he'd be a Slytherin. But then you find his motives and reasonings behind doing what he does and find he's a Gryffindor through and through. (Lori - this is the friend I brought to Avio's, not my ex)
The Group - They're a mix of Gryffindors and Ravenclaws with the sole exception of Colby. He's a Slytherin who thinks he's a Ravenclaw. He's also the only RL Slytherin that I know.
