Haunted house and ghost stories
I was just wondering...
Shrieking shack is supposedly 'haunted'. Is there any haunted places you know of? Or any ghost stories anyone would like to share?

I know the State Library in Melbourne is haunted. People have seen a woman/girl standing at the staircase before. I think the Princess theater is haunted too. Though not violent ghosts.

ALLEGEDLY the Old Main building on my campus (University of Arkansas) is haunted. I think it's all a rumor, though - I never get any bad vibes when I'm in the building. Not that I'm at all "psychic" or anything, and I like it that way. I'd rather not know if there are ghosts around!!

Heehee... haunted school stories are common, though most of them are just rumors to scare the students.

My primary school had a old toilet at the end of the field that was rumored to be haunted. My friends said that there are splotches of blood on the walls (now i think it's probably shit). I've never been brave enough to venture in. But the toilet is demolished quite soon after I attended the school, I wonder why though?

Yeah, that's where I met my very best friend Mrytle! Sadly I can't see her anymore, but glad she is famous enough to be in the HP movies! haha

And good for her, I say! You make your way in this world, Myrtle - even if you're dead!

One time, when driving home with the rents when I was a kid, me and my sisters were in the back of the minivan, asleep, and my parents saw something ghostly cross the road right in front of the car, and it came right from a marker on the side of the road marking where someone had died. And it wasn't a person, as it was moving too fast to be one and looked not at all like anything living.

Sadly, I have no personal ghost stories, since, like I said, I was asleep.

Ooh... supernatural incidents! I would shit my pants if I've seen it, or cause an accident.

Oh man! They should close down the road! At least I've grown out of the 'children' category, phew, no chance of being kidnapped by creepy cult members.

I've always had a connection to "Paranormal Activity", ever since I could remember.

I never knew anything was wrong with it, but when the lights in my childhood home would turn off on their own, the curtain draw up on their own, or I'd hear piano music into the hours of the night (when we didn't own a piano), that this was a "weird" thing. I seem to be lucky, because I've had many expirences with this kind of stuff. One of the scarest was when I was out late around 2am, and a van pulled up next to my car, and all I could hear was the sound of children playing. *shivers*

Wow, I've never known any real person that have this sort of connection. Cool, yet freaky. At least you are not easily freaked out by all these stuff, since you practically grew up with it! ^_^

I dont know if anyone has ever heard of Weird NJ but that is mostly stuff from my area. Actually quite a few things that are in there I knew about before they were even posted.

Like there is this old Assylum in our area and when I was in high school my friends and I would "investigate" over there. See, it used to be a state school years back for handicapped kids and kids with disabliitlies, well the guy who ran it did experiments and such on the kids and eventually got shut down, so it is said the ghosts of the kids still walk the corridors. I must say when I was there it was pretty creepy. We were in the attic and no wind and all of a sudden every door in the building slammed shut! It was so scary.

Ooh, straight out of movie sort of scary experience! Would I be right to say you and your friends ran out of there after the doors slamming? I would have ran for my life shrieking like a banshee.

My house is full of ghosts. I feel them and sometimes see them, other people have felt, smelled, seen, and even spoken to them. I have far too many stories to share, so I'll just pick one.

I've always known that there is a male presence at the side of my bed, on the floor. One day, after leaving myself rather 'open' to these things, I came into my room and saw him there. He was kind of -in- the floor, likely from a time before the house was built here...putting him on the ground. It was odd, though...it's like I couldn't see my room where he was. His legs were mostly gone...they had been blown off, it appeared, as they were badly burnt and bleeding. He was basically gone from the knees down. He was dressed as a soldier, though I never saw his face because the sight did not last long enough for me to look away from his legs.

I live in Georgia, and I am in an area around the path Sherman took as he marched to Savannah. My house is old, but I am not certain which happened first...the building of the house, or the march. So, it may or may not be something related to that.

Oh man! You are scaring me, and I am not even anywhere near your house. I'm trying very hard not to look at my bedside floor now, maybe I should go to sleep now! Great that you are not afraid of living with them!

I have, that I know of, four presences in my own bedroom [only one feels at all hostile], one in the bathroom, one in the back of the house, one in the kitchen, and one in the utility room.

A few years ago, while I was writing a piece of fiction on my computer, I suddenly felt someone come into my room. It took a while for her to reach me, but when she did, she stood behind me and played with my hair. I could see her out of the corner of my eyes...white dress, long dark hair, pale face. When I would turn fully, I couldn't see her. I was not thinking of anything but what I was writing when this happened, so it definitely wasn't any type of 'suggestion' that put the feeling there. A few hours later, she turned around and went back the way she came. That's the only ghost I've ever had such a full interaction with, personally, as an adult.

As a child, there was a woman who watched over me...my dad saw her a few times. She actually fits the description of the woman I saw that was playing with my hair. I wonder if she came to check on me.

Most of the ghosts here are the...what are they called... I forget what they're called, but they just never really move from where they are. This woman did. It was actually a great experience, though very weird. The woman who watched over me moved from room to room, and she spoke with a family friend. I'll probably always wonder if it was the same woman.

I live pretty close to the Eastern State Penitentiary. Apparently all of the TV shows like Most Haunted (or whatever it's called) think it's pretty haunted. I'd say the inside is probably pretty scary looking (and anyone who has been to the haunted house would agree, I think...I haven't been in it, but I know too many people who have had nightmares after being in that place XD) but I can't say if there are any ghosts or not. I haven't seen the show, so I don't know if they found "ghosts" or not. I think it'd be pretty awesome if they did though, considering I drive by there every day and could say, "HI MR. GHOSTIES!" It'd be fun. :)

Back in the day, I used to go "ghost hunting" with all of my friends. We actually had a few experiences that no one would explain. It was fun, I miss doing that. There are quite a few places around me that are supposedly haunted. I want to go check out the Hannah House in Indianapolis though. I've heard some wicked things about that place...

There is (or was, I'm pretty sure it was torn down last year) a house I've been to in Shaumburg (I think), IL. It's on Shoe Factory Road and supposedly a guy went nuts and killed his wife and two children there.

I went with a couple friends right around Halloween in 2002 and it was one of the creepiest places I've been in. The place was a dump and there was writing all over the walls. One of the walls I remember had an eye of Horus on it just before we went into the basement.

One of the creepiest things about this place was after we were inside for about 10 minutes we started hearing sounds like someone was walking around the outside of the building. All the windows were smashed out so it was easy to see outside and we could hear footsteps close to the window crunching the leaves. But when we looked no one was there. We heard it repeatedly go past the front door without seeing anyone.

Later that night I went home and dreamt about the place. I saw the whole murder happen, from him killing his wife while his two kids watched TV and then him going and killing the kids. I hadn't known anything about the place other than it was supposed to be haunted either so I went back the next day and asked my friends and they were surprised to find out I knew about it. They thought I read about it online but at the time I didn't have an internet connection since I was just getting settled in my new place.

After that I started feeling a presence in my apartment. I would hear someone at night walk out of the living room and down the hall to the bedroom and then stand near the foot of my bed and just watch me. I was so creeped out. It went on for about three months and my husband thought I was just being silly. I would see things out of the corner of my eye when I was alone and even sometimed during the day when I was alone I would hear someone pacing in the living room when I wasn't in there. Once I even felt the person come into my room while I was reading and sit down on the bed.

I haven't had anything weird happen after that though. But it was enough to freak me out.

One of my haunted stories is The Whaley House. It's a house in San Diego that is haunted by a man that was hung there way before the house was built because he stole a boat, the man who was the owner when the house was built (Mr. Whaley), their daughter after she killed herself, and possibly a son.

There's also a place somewhere in England, I think, it's called Greyfriars and I've heard some crazy stuff about hauntings there. I think it'd be fascinating to visit.

I'm fairly sure my Grandma is haunting our house. You know that feeling you get when you're doing something you know your parents would disapprove of, and then you look up and they're just standing there staring at you? I get that all the time when reading/writing/drawing slash or the pr0n. o-o; For that matter, the liquor cabinet has a very distinct aura of "I'll smack you if you even think about it!". One day I'll die, and the first thing I'll hear is, "I hope you have a good explanation for all this". Eep!

I know for a fact that my cousin Robbie is hanging around. I see him on the couch occasionally, usually watching TV. He doesn't seem to be stuck, because I've seen him in several places (my old place in AZ, the feed barn, couch in FL...) And my first dog (She-Bear) drops by and chases things under my bed. Very odd experience, that. She scares my poor kitties to death!

Guess I'm just a haunted person. ^^; On a more scary note, we used to live in a "real" haunted house when I was little. There were two children, a woman and what we think was a man, but he tended to show up mostly as a scary-as-hell demon mask. The woman was maybe early 1900s, the children were more modern. :/ I remember the kids used to ask me to play with them (never did, not sure why), and the woman would sing sometimes while I trying to go to sleep. (She had a really pretty voice!)

I think moved out because of the male ghost; the other three never really bothered me, but my 'rents tend to talk like all four of them were problems. The male was really violent. He knocked things over all the time, and I think he broke the bathroom mirror. (Could have been my brother though.) When he was around, it was incredibly easy to get angry.

The house is still hanging around. It's on Encanto Drive in Phoenix AZ. I still feel kind of sorry for the kids and woman stuck there with the other one.

There is a road here called Crawford Road. Its a very popular place to drive along at night and try to scare each other. This is what it says online about it:

Yorktown - Crawford Road - A woman hung herself from an overpass on her wedding day. Her spirit has been seen her spirit, hanging in her wedding dress. Also, African Americans were hung down the road. A lot of spirits dwell on this road. - February 2005 Correction - Formerly listed under - Poquoson - Crawford Rd - There have been other stories about the part of the road where the Tour Road crosses over Crawford Rd. There is a story that on some nights that you can see a black lady in a white dress walk up on the bridge onto the ledge, then she falls off and then she stops in mid air and swings like she was hung. There have also been stories of your car cutting out and not starting. If you drove down it at night you could see someone hanging from the bridge where someone was hung years ago and that cars have shut off underneath the bridge.
