Parental Approval & Disapproval
Margo, Jack and I were talking about this one day. Which house do you think your parents would want you to get sorted into, and why? On the opposite end, which house would they be disappointed about if you were sorted into it, and why?

I said Ravenclaw because of the emphasis on the intellectual Jewish families tend to have. I think that they would be disappointed if I was sorted into Gryffindor, because they might see it as too much of a party house. :)

I can totally see the Ravenclaw for Jewish families. It's insane.

I actually think my parents wouldn't really care which house I'm sorted into, I would just get more crap because they would see Gryffindor (again) as the party house. So at family reunions they would be making fun of me. Then again I would get crap for any house I'm in, so it wouldn't really matter hahaha.

Secretly? My mom would want me as a Ravenclaw, my dad a Hufflepuff. And if they could be disappointed...I don't know if it would be a specific house, just my choices when I was in the house.

I think my mom wouldnt mind me getting into Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw or Gryffindor but would be disappointed in Slytherin. My mom has always been behind me though with stuff of that sort though. Like one day I was like "I want to go back to private school" so she said "okay" and the following year I was at Sacred Heart. ♥ So long as I am happy she is happy.

I think that my parents would expect me to be sorted into Ravenclaw. They seem to think that I'm "smart" because I made good grades in school, and Ravenclaw is stereotypically the "smart" house. And yes, my parents would probably perpetuate the stereotypes, haha. I think that they would like it if I were in Gryffindor, though, 'cause I suspect that's where each of them would have been.

Seeing as both of my parents would most likely be Gryffs, they would be sorely upset if I were sorted into Slytherin. We all know how much Gryffs and Slyths like each other....

Eh, I don't think they'd mind me being a Puff, though. They'd probably think that Hufflepuffs are "good and moral hard-workers," lol.

My parents would prob have wanted me in Claw, because that's what my sister would have been, and they would assume that b/c she was in it that I belong there. Howsever I think they would be disappointed if I were sorted into Slytherin, because it has a repof producing jerks (no offense to the HiH) like Malfoy and such.

My mother would want me in Ravenclaw, because she always pushed me to make the best grades, to think about things, and to simply -learn-.

My father would have wanted me in Hufflepuff. He believes in being selfless, kind, generous, understanding...you know, most of the things I'm not.

My father would have been disappointed if I was sorted into Slytherin; he would associate the snakes with sin, and the devil. I'm not sure my mom would be disappointed in any particular house.

I think that my family wouldn't really care. ^^ They'd be happy with anything. But I think that my dad would like to see me in Hufflepuff because we have an inside-joke about it.

I think my parents would be surprised to see me sorted into Gryffindor. Although I am apretty even mix of Gryffindor and Slytherin. I think they'd expect me to be in Hufflepuff. I doubt they'd be disappointed to see me in any house.

In all honesty my mother wouldn’t even want me to go. She’s a Christian who’s completely against Harry Potter. I’d most likely get prayed over if it was ever found out I was a witch.

My mom wouldn't care actually. She would probably like Gryffindor or Ravenclaw but she could definitely see me in Slytherin (actually she's surprised I got into Gryffindor here lol). She probably wouldn't want me in Slytherin too though because she thinks that's where all the bad guys are and she doesn't like them

To be perfectly Honest, my Mother would either want me to be a Ravenclaw, or a Slytherin.

Ravenclaw, because of the intellectuals and the promise of a good outcome on my future.

Slytherin, because of the possible political connections, and being able to rub elbows with the parents.

My mom and dad would be totally shocked if they ever knew that witchcraft/wizardry was real, I can't imagine my mom would let me get away that easy.

But once they got over that, I think my mom and dad would both want me in Ravenclaw--they are big on grades and applying myself, but they'd be proud of me no matter where I got in. If I got into Slytherin, they'd just want to make sure I had my own mind and didn't get sucked into all them DE activities. ;) (Don't worry, Slyths, I love you guys.)

My parents wouldn't really care, as long as I was content. It wouldn't really matter if they were in the same house or not or anything.

My Dad would want me in Gryffindor, and Mom would go along with Dad because she's stupid that way. Firstly, Dad has a very black/white view of things. He'd see Ravenclaw as the "geek" House (all brains, no action), Hufflepuff as push-overs, Slytherin as evil and Gryffindor as heroes. Secondly, he has this idea that I'm supposed to "save the world" because I'm so much more "intelligent/spiritual/wise/whatever" than everyone else on the planet (besides him), which means I must do EXACTLY WHAT HE SAYS. I don't really mind all of this (I do want to run for political office - the higher the better), because I think that if you have the ability to make the world a better place/help people, you have the obligation to do so. I just don't delude myself into thinking I'm better than other people, and I tend to think in very concrete forms, rather than vague "solve world hunger and end violence". We argue all the time over how and what exactly I'm supposed to save, obviously. Mostly I think he just want to be able to say, "I'm so-and-so's father, and it's all because of me".

There's reasons I don't talk with my parents much.

He (and Mom) would be most disappointed if I ended up in Slytherin. That's the house of ambition, and "ends justifies means". Basically, pure evil in my dads view. Life doesn't have simple answers; Slytherin recognizes this. He doesn't. Dad doesn't quite get how some ends are worth the sacrifice of ethics, and ambition is another word for "greed" in his dictionary.

I don't actually think they would care, but if they did, I think they would want Ravenclaw, what with the emphasis on learning, and to them, it would probably translate to good grades or something. Then I don't think they would want me to end up in Hufflepuff, because there isn't anything immediately outstanding about it. (Even though we all know there are lots of talented people in Hufflepuff.)

I think mum would just be confused if I'd ended up in Slytherin, but probably see the traits, guess Ravenclaw, be a bit 'huh' about Gryffindor, and maybe worry about me a bit, and hufflepuff? She'd still have had the same reaction.

It's just me and mum and she likes me to do well, but does tend to value all different aspects of me, and find the one to dwell on in each thing I do. So I figure she would with the houses too, it'd just take her longer to get around to it with some rather than others.
