Sorting Hat Curiousness
It appears that the Sorting Hat has had a rough day. However, it claims that if you only look deeper you will see that everyone was sorted as they should be. I'm not sure if I believe the Sorting Hat, but it usually does have a reason for putting people in a particular house. So, what is it? Pick one, pick two, or do them all :)

Students Sorted - House They Were Sorted Into

Lucius Malfoy - Gryffindor
Draco Malfoy - Ravenclaw
Harry Potter - Hufflepuff
Hermione Granger - Slytherin
Severus Snape - Hufflepuff
Neville Longbottom - Ravenclaw
The Weasleys - Slytherin
Tom Riddle - Gryffindor
Luna Lovegood - Gryffindor

Harry is incredibly loyal to those that he considers to be his 'true' family and this is a very Hufflepuff trait. He also tries to be fair whenever possible and I think his rapid assimilation of wizarding matters shows that he is quite open minded and accepting of new things.

I can see Luna ending up in Gryffindor because she's completely unafraid to express herself. She fiercely defends her beliefs, despite the fact that most of them don't make any sense, and sports her goofy lion hat at Quidditch matches with pride and without any regard for what others think.

Draco Malfoy - Ravenclaw

Spoiled vindictive brat though he is, he's shown in canon to be fairly clever. From his conversation with his father at Borgin and Burkes in CoS, it could be inferred that Hermione was the only one who beat him on his exams, otherwise Lucius would have said something about other students who bested him. He also gets made Prefect and put into NEWT classes, plus his plan in HBP--especially the vanishing cabinet bit--was fairly ingenious.

Severus Snape - Hufflepuff

Unless he's really working for the goblins of Gringotts or he just enjoys starting fights between the two most powerful wizards in the world, he's incredibly loyal to somebody, we just don't know who yet.

Lucius is obviously strong-willed, on top of that he's opinionated, clever and brave. He's daring and has a lot of pride. Idk, he's sort of bewitching, too. I think the word's charismatic. Yep.

Draco's passionate about stuff and he's independant. Sort of. Ok, no, I give up, I don't know why Draco would be in Ravenclaw!

Hermione is soooo ambitious. She's also self-righteous and determined. She can be devious, too, what with all the rule breaking. She's ressourceful and, I think, quite intimidating.

Feorge and Gred are ambitious, determined, ressourceful, cunning, manipulative, devious, self-righteous, outspoken, opinionated, stubborn ...

Yah.

Neville probably has a split personality that hasn't been explored in the books. Only the sorting hat has read in inner mind and seen his smart side! :P

Hermione will go to nearly any means to get to her end. That she's doing it for a purpose and not herself makes her gryffindor, but she still goes to the end and that's a very Slytherin-y thing...

Harry is loyal, and aims to treat everyone the same. He fails, but he does try.
