Two unrelated questions:

What was the last movie/miniseries/TV show that you saw a Harry Potter cast member in? Was it any good?

Me: I saw Jason Isaacs in The State Within, which was a BBC/BBC America miniseries in which he played the UK's ambassador to the US. It was really, really excellent and he was wonderful in it

------------------------------

I asked this in [livejournal.com profile] thequestionclub and I thought the answers were pretty fun.

We all know that Hogwarts' motto is Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus. Does your school (high school/university/whatever) have a motto? What is it? (And translation, preferably!)

My college: Pietate et Doctrina Tuta Libertas (Piety and Learning are the Bulwark of Liberty)

My grad school: Hinc lucem et pocula sacra (From here, light and sacred draughts)

ummm hmm It's either something with Alan Rickman or Jason Issacs...I might have been either Galaxy Quest or Peter Pan I'm not sure

It took me a year an a half to learn what my school colors where (Black and yellow/gold Hufflepuff colors lol) So I had to look up our motto too

"Enriching Lives"

....omg is that horrible. How creative it that?!

I just watched Brendan Gleeson in 28 Days Later, so cute. :] And the movie is fantastic. I hear the sequel was a bust, though.

Annnd my school doesn't have a motto, unfortunately. We do have a fabulously bad fight song, though.

p.s. So sorry if you got spammed with the re-post, forgot to sign!

I remember being in the movie theater for PotC:AWE and freaking out with my HP-obsessed friend about an HP cast member being in a new movie, but I have no idea which cast member it was or what movie it was...heh.

My school motto is, "Dare to be Excellent" (ick) which my dad has kindly switched in his mind and anyone else willing to listen to, "Dare to be Eggsalad." Okay, so I have a weird family. XD

I watched The Constant Gardener with [livejournal.com profile] alex_parker not so long ago because every time Ralph Fiennes came on we'd go VOLDEMORT and comment on how he had a nose. This happened a lot because he's, like, the main character. And how Voldemort has FEELINGS.

It's a totally awesome movie though. I very much recommend it. Even if he is distracting.

And I just totally looked up the University of Chicago's motto (BECAUSE I AM TOTALLY GOING THERE NEXT YEAR!) and it is "Crescat scientia; vita excolatur"
which means "Let knowledge grow from more to more; and so be human life enriched."
SO AWESOME!

Awesome! Our house is so smart. Congrats. :)

(Really, I like the question because it lets me obliquely brag about getting into grad school. England here I come!)

1. Um......................OH! I watched Sister Act 2 last week. XD IT.IS.THE BOMB.

2. I think my high school's motto was "Please Let Me Graduate". :D No, there's probably a real one with Latin words that I don't care to understand, but I have no clue what it is. I'm strictly an English and German speaker.

Nope, sorry, just remembered - my high school's motto was "Pride Through Excellence." Not even in Latin. So sad.

My college's (Truman State University) was "Excellence is no accident." LULZ.

I don't really pay attention to my school's motto. I think my high school's motto had something to do with 'step by step towards success' or something lame like that.

I saw Jason Issacs in St. Ives. It was, er, interesting.

---

Instead of a motto, we have a song:

"Santa Rosa, Santa Rosa
Fight on for your fame!
Pass the ball right down the center
touchdown! Sure this time rah rah rah rah
Santa Rosa Santa Rosa
...something...
Come on panthers fight fight fight!
.... and it goes on and I sort of forgotten it because we only sing it during football season."

Hm, DAvid Thewlis in Gangster #1, so awesome as a psychopath in that!

And, we did, for ym secondary school, 'cuique omnes et omnes deo' but I have no idea what it means...

i think it's for everyone and everyone for god. Or soemthing like that.
