Social Director Post: Desert Island Scenario
Ok guys and gals. This is your standard random question.

You're stranded on a desert island in the middle of the ocean. It could be months before you're found, but not to worry. There is one other person on the island with you.

Who would you want that one person to be? It can be any HP character you want.

When making your decision, let's say that all wands and other magical items were lost in the shipwreck. So, it's just you, your companion, against the elements, trying to survive.

Oh the possibilities!!!

Moody. I think he'd be the best at keeping us alive..

Seconded, if he didn't psychologically scar me for my ineptness.

I think I'd be scared enough with things making noise in the dark. Moody's paranoia would definitely keep me on edge. He'd drive me crazy! o.O

I have a tendency to be paranoid just like Moody (whom I love dearly) so that wouldn't be the best choice for me :P

I thought about Sirius, and then I thought, no wands, no magicks, just me, him, against the elements...

it would be a miracle if we both made it out of their alive.

I hadn't thought of fetch! Hours of free entertainment! And if gets cold at night, a big dog is a good way to stay warm!

Fred Weasley (let's pretend he's not dead!) he'd make it fun!

She said "no magical items". Nobody said anything about a getaway jet-ski.

Sirius (ignore the fact that he died) Black. He would be entertaining. haha.

Sirius. Without a doubt. Dogs are good trackers, so he could find us food and even if he couldn't, at least we'd have fun before we died of starvation.

As much as I'd like Remus to be there, I'm not stupid enough to want him there without his Wolfsbane. I contemplated Severus, but if it was me or him in needing to survive, he'd pick him so that's another no. I was going to agree with brownstudies and say Moody but I think I'd pick Dumbledore. He's an extremely talented wizard that can do wandless magic, we'd have interesting conversations so I wouldn't get bored and I'm sure he'd be thinking of ways to get up off the island. The only other one I could think of would be Kingsley Shacklebot. That's another wizard who'd be very good. He's intelligent, talented wizard to be stranded with.

I think I'd actually want Cedric Diggory there. Not just because in the movie the actor that played him was good-looking, but because he seems kind of outdoorsy to me. He was smart enough to figure out the first part of the second challenge of the Tri-Wizard Cup on his own and I think he was probably reasonably resourceful.

I would want someone physically stronger than myself who was caring of other people, smart, and would work well in the partnership to survive.

He might not be the most brilliant conversationalist, for that I'd rather have Sirius Black, but charm doesn't feed you, help you build a shelter and if you get hurt, try to help take care of you. I think Cedric would.

An adult Neville might be good too, come to think of it.

Just a tip, he didn't figure out the second challenge on his own.. 'Moody' told him, and believed that he'd return the favour for the first challenge.

But I see why you would want him on your island.

Oh DARN you are right! It has been so long ago that I read the book that I only remembered him helping out Harry...thanks...

Well still, he was one of the top guys scholastically in his year in Hufflepuff right? Did I remember at least that much correctly?

Darn that 'Moody'!

And yeah, he still seemed resourceful and I bet a positive attitude would go a long way to keep me working and not giving up despite how hungry and thirsty I was as we first tried to survive...thus, yeah I'd stick with him as my choice from the Potterverse.

I think Alastar Moody would be first class for survival, but I couldn't deal with his personality.

Contrary, I think I would get along ridiculously well with Snape or Lucius. Snape because I like to be left alone a lot, and I have a feeling he would too. Lucius.. cause like.. look at him.
But getting along isn't everything.

So I think the perfect person would be the Dark Lord. I don't mind doing a lot of the work, because I'm a ridiculous perfectionist.. and he likes being left alone as well, I'd assume. So it's perfect.

Also, I can't really stand anyone else :P

TAHA, Snape, without a doubt. That guy's on the ball, and I'm sure if he wound up being useless at actual survival, at least he'd be someone to argue intelligently with.

Bill Weasley. I would think in his years of being a curse-breaker he might have learned a thing or two to help us stay alive. Plus, he's sexy so he'd be nice to look at.

Obviously, Dumbledore. (FLESH WOUUUUUND)
I mean, c'mon, it's Dumbles. What can't he do? Plus, all this time alone on the island, us both thinking we're going to kick the bucket, i'd like to think he'd just start rambling on about his past, like old people do ;)

Severus Snape. Because, dude, he can FLY. It's canon, and most likely wandless magic, thus RESCUE.

I would take...either Sirius or Luna. I do not know how well either of them could fend for themselves, but they would both been entertaining company...in very different ways...

My choice would be Neville Longbottom.

We all know Nevie as "plucky" and "awkward", but I believe that, taken out of his normal surroundings, he would shine.
Sure, he might have a bit of a panic attack, at first, but then, after given time to asses the situation, he would come to his senses.
He has vast knowledge of plant life, so we would know what was edible and medicinal, and I wouldn't mind having long conversations with him on a sunlit beach. ;)

[identity profile] sallycandance.livejournal.com on June 29th, 2008 05:07 am (UTC)
Hmm, there's a lot of good characters to chose from. I read everyone's replies so far and think they're all good choices. Especially Snape and Cedric.

Buuuut, I'd definitely go with Lucius Malfoy. Granted, the first days he'd probably be pretty useless--whining about his fate, scared to get his hands dirty and belittling me (because obviously it would all be my fault).
But I think he'd come around sooner or later and then it'd be fun to get to know the Lucius behind the Malfoy, know what I mean?
Plus, he's wickedly hot.

Lucius Malfoy b/c a desert island is my worst nightmare. He & I would share the same views of being stuck there with no luxuries ^o^

Also, come on it's Lucius Malfoy ~ HAWT
