OFFICIAL POINTS EARNING ACTIVITY - History of Magic - History of Hogsmeade Tour

Activity: History of Hogsmeade Tour
Points: 10 pts, participation only
Deadline: Sunday, 2/22 @ 6 PM CST

Welcome to Hogsmeade! If this is your first, I hope you're having an extra-awesome time, and please try not to overindulge! There'll be future trips, so there's no need to eat so many acid lollies now that you burn a hole through your tongue. ;) I thought a pleasant tour of the town might be enjoyable; would you care to join me?

How to Play
Follow each clue to discover the next location. All locations can be found in the comments to posts in [livejournal.com profile] hogsmeadewkends, and they are all from 2008. (None will be found in the current posts.) Every location will be marked with a large image header; for example, the Leaky Cauldron (not in Hogsmeade) would have a large graphic at the start of the post denoting it as such. As you visit each stop on the tour, be sure to keep track of them by writing the stop name down on your tour log. The final stop will ask you a question. Please answer that question as #10 on your tour log.

• Some posts have 2 or 3 pages of comments. The tour will be meeting in the very last comment. ;)
• You do not need to be on the roster to participate in this activity.
• Don't forget to sign with your name/house.
• I will give partial credit if you don't have time to take the full tour. (One point per correct answer.)
• Any questions, just ask!

Tour Log

Clue #1:
Hogsmeade was founded some time around the 10th century (close to the time of Hogwarts' own founding) by Hengist of Woodcroft, who had been driven out of his home by Muggles and sought a wizard-friendly refuge. The first stop on our tour is the place rumoured to have been his home here in Hogsmeade.

Good luck!

History buff? You'll find yourself among friends by joining here.

Question: Will the clues be updated here? *didn't find another clue at first stop*

The clue you found was for a scavenger hunt the previous Mayor of Hogsmeade (Anie/[livejournal.com profile] viridian_virtue) held. Clues for this hunt were posted by me and clearly say "History of Hogsmeade Tour: Stop # - Stop Name" in the subject. Additionally, they all have the History of Magic banner in them to make spotting them easier. :) And yes, they do contain the next clue to help you progress on the tour. Good luck!

Ok, I can only find 3 posts that would be the answer for the #2 clue, but don't see the next clue in any of them. Is it up yet? Am I just missing soemthing?

I believe there were actually six posts made from the location of Stop #2 in 2008, although it hasn't been visited in any recent Hogsmeades. :) I hope that helps!

In 2008 I only see 3, and they were all Owl Post Secret related, all made in october.

This is where I'm geting confused...

Are you looking for the second stop?

It has a graphic related to it and was only used in the February and April Hogsmeade trips last year. :)

Do you need to join to see the posts the comments are in?

I honestly don't know how I got to the end and managed to skip something. I can't figure it out. If you do, let me know and I'll fix it.

You skipped the shop you would go to to buy the thing you wanted to get rid of at Stop 7 (and your answer to 10!). ;)

Stop 9 is the only comment which is on an entry where the comments are normally screened (so you know there won't be many!). :) Note the keywords in the clue at Stop 8 to figure out where you're going and then look for a graphic with a place name that matches those clues!

Good luck! ♥
