Question about pairings
Everyone has their OTP's. Mine is Severus/Remus (a fairly odd one I know.) I am also really fond of Ron/Draco. What can I say, I'm a slasher who loves the Slytherin/Gryffindor dynamic.

I was wondering if anyone had guilty pleasure pairings. Those pairings that seem strange, and you feel vaguely odd about loving them, but you do anyway.

To start things off I will reluctantly admit my guilty pleasure pairings, and why I love them.

Severus/Ron and Remus/Draco
Its the same thing with the Snake/Lion dynamic. You have the potential for some really wonderful interactions. They can range anywhere from super-angsty to tender and loving (if written properly). And the cross-gen aspect has the ability to show really interesting displays of trust, respect, and growth. I love to see the different scenarios that these potentially volatile combinations can be put into

I have been told on several occasions that I'm odd.

So tell me yours, and why you love them. (though you don't always admit it)

lol. Great sex is always good. Thats actually one of the only het pairings I'll read. So I am deffinately with you on that one!

I adore Viktor/Draco to no end...for one thing, because it's plausible, even if you wouldn't immediately think of it as being so. And it's just another reason for Draco to despise Hermione. ^^

Cedric/Harry's becoming more and more popular, since the movie came out, so I'm not sure if it's really a GUILTY pleasure, persay...

My OTP would have to be Harry/Draco, though. Has always been, will always be, no matter how cringe-worthily popular it becomes.

Lol. I love that you call it abother reason for him to hate Hermione. And a fairly good reason too. I definately see it as plausible.

Harry/Draco is the bane of my existence! (lol, j/k. though I never really got into it.)

My guilty pleasure is Hermione/Draco, but only if it is written well. There are some that are truly horrible. There's no real shot for that pairing to last. It's before they get into better and longer lasting pairings.

Should I go to the shame corner now?

Karina, Slytherin
[identity profile] krissybl.livejournal.com on February 19th, 2006 12:53 am (UTC)
Absolutely not. You can stay well away from the shame corner. If I read more het I would probably read that. There is nothing wrong with unlikely pairings.

And if you thinks that bad, one of my favorite fics is a Ron/Draco with a side pairing of Severus/Hermione. And if loving odd pairings is wrong, than I dont want to be right.

Yeah, I have a lot!

My OTP is also my biggest guilty pleasure: Dudley/Draco.

My other pairings that I like are:

Ron/Draco
Harry/Ron
Neville/Ginny
Neville/Ron
Neville/Harry
Remus/Sirius
Remus/Severus
Remus/Lily
Severus/Ron
Harry/Ron/Hermione

...and the list goes on and on. I actually don't feel "guilty" about reading any of my pairings, I am a multi-shipper and I have a lot of pairings that I like. Some of them, like Dudley/Draco, are admittedly odder than others, but there is enough evidence in canon to cause me to ship it, so whatever. :)
[identity profile] krissybl.livejournal.com on February 19th, 2006 12:55 am (UTC)
Dudley/Draco? Thats one I don't think I've ever heard before. Is there a lot of fic out there for it? It sounds like it could be interesting.

And Kudos to you for being proud of your pairings!

Ok, there's a story about how my guilty pleasure OTP came up.

I've written lots of fanfic for young Lucius/Narcissa and it's the greatest thing. Then one day I wrote a Draco/Ginny story for my best friend (whose OTP is, obviously, Draco/Ginny), and it was post-war, and Lucius was dead, but his mom was still alive, and so was Snape. Now, I've always loved Snape, and I've always had a theory that he was infatuated with both Lily Evans and some of Narcissa while he was at Hogwarts, but up until this story, I'd loved him as the lonely old grouch that we all know. But in the story I wrote, they danced together at the wedding reception and it was lovely and ever since then...guilty pleasure OTP = Snape/Narcissa.

It's strange, I know. And it's actually rather rare. I mean, not as rare as some, but still...not a lot. Which makes me sad. I can write Narcissa, but Snape? Uh-uh. And very few people get him right anyways, so reading the fanfics aren't really worth it. *le sigh*
[identity profile] krissybl.livejournal.com on February 19th, 2006 12:57 am (UTC)
Severus is a wonderful character, but you're right. He is difficult to write properly.

And nothing wrong with Severus/Narcissa. It actually seems really plausible to me. I mean, look at all the Severus/Lucius fic. It could easily be Narcissa instead!

I'm also fond of Snupin or Severus/Lupin myself ~♥ In fact, I like that pairing a lot more than the ever popular Sirius/Remus or Remus/Tonks. Mainly from the third book and on, even though Remus knows that Sev doesn't like him much, he's still polite and courteous. There's a lot more interaction between them and Snupin fics are a guilty pleasure of mine.

My favourite OTP from the fandom is Harry/Draco however. I know it's over popular but I just can't get over that pairing. XD I like Harry being the dominant one, taking the lead with Draco reluctantly but eventually giving in. The sixth book just made me further love that pairing ~♥ They balance each other so well, between personalities and goals, they're also in some ways direct opposites of each other. I love the theory of opposites being put together to make one whole.

My other, very random, crack OTP is Draco/Luna. Just because Luna would probably drive him batty and their interactions would be hilarious. ;D
[identity profile] krissybl.livejournal.com on February 19th, 2006 01:19 am (UTC)
SNUPIN FOREVER! lol. Sorry about that, I am rather rabid about my love of Snupin. And besides, if you read between the lines, they are so canon. (at least to us delusional Snupin shippers)

Opposites attract is definately popular. And I can totally see how the sixth book can almost validate the pairing.

Draco/Luna would crack me up. She would have him running up the walls in no time. I actually play Luna in an RP and she irritates our Draco to no end. And she would be totally oblivious to Draco's irritation. I think I may actually go try to find one of those, just to see what the authors can make of it.

Let's see... My main pairings are Harry/Draco and Sirius/Remus. Why? Because love/hate relationships are awesome and S/R is just absolutely adorable and what not. Plus there are totally canon hints for both, I swear. I secretly think Neville and Luna would be the cutest couple ever because I heart them both and they would go well together. Oh, and I'm rather fond of Blaise/Harry and Blaise/Draco. Don't ask me why; I have no idea. That's about it. It's rather sad that I have only 1 het pairing up there. Ah well.

Everyone that really knows me, will tell you that it is Sirius/Remus all the way, I believe them to be canon, I am not delusional, the subtext is there, I mean think about it, THEY GAVE HARRY A JOINT GIFT!!! Among many other things, but anyway I do have minor ships like Harry/Ginny, Hermione/Ron, Draco/Pansy, James/Lily, and then sometimes Lucius/Severus and Harry/Ron, those two are my non-canon slash pairings.

I do have my pairing that I loathe, which I know many of you love, but I just can't abide, ones like.... *ducks* Sorry guys just can't. :)

Severus/Ron is great. But there are so few fics out there for it. I've found a few good ones though.

Remus/Draco is even more rare. And definately odd.

Yay for anything involving Luna! Hehe. She's my favorite character ever.

*whipsers* psst. Thanks for the Seamus/Luna valentine. It was too cute!
